Learn Building Information Modeling (BIM) with Revit Architecture — design, document, and coordinate building projects with a fully integrated 3D model-based workflow.

Overview

Revit Architecture is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) software used by architects, structural engineers, and contractors to design buildings and their components in full 3D — while simultaneously generating the 2D documentation and data needed to construct them. Unlike traditional CAD drafting, Revit centers the entire design and documentation process around a single, intelligent building model.

At DIT, this course — delivered as an authorized training associate of CADD Centre Training Services — equips design and construction professionals in Accra with the coordinated, model-based approach that BIM mandates and international clients increasingly require on Ghanaian projects.

A working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software is recommended before starting this course, as Revit builds on core drafting and drawing-convention concepts.

Curriculum Outline

Module 1 — BIM Fundamentals & Interface Understanding Building Information Modeling, the Revit interface, project templates, and levels/grids setup.

Module 2 — Architectural Modeling Walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, stairs, and railings using parametric components.

Module 3 — Documentation & Annotation Sheet composition, view management, dimensioning, tagging, and schedule creation.

Module 4 — Analysis & Performance Building element energy analysis, physical materials for performance analysis, and enhanced structural analytical modeling.

Module 5 — MEP-Aware Design Duct and pipe calculation basics, HVAC/electrical room color-fill plans, and coordination principles for multidisciplinary teams.

Module 6 — Collaboration & Work-Sharing Central-file workflows, multi-user collaboration across a WAN, and model-based conflict detection.

Module 7 — Visualization & Presentation Photo-realistic rendering, cloud-based rendering options, and displaced building design views for client presentations.

Capstone Project Participants design, document, and present a small building project from concept through a coordinated construction document set.

Outcomes

Graduates will be able to develop higher-quality, more accurate architectural designs using BIM workflows; maintain design intent from concept through construction and documentation; collaborate on shared models with multiple stakeholders; and derive construction insight — including material quantities and schedules — directly from the building model.

Certification

DIT is an authorized training associate of CADD Centre Training Services (India), one of the world’s largest CAD training networks. Participants who complete all modules and pass the practical assessment receive an internationally recognized Certificate of Completion issued through DIT’s CADD Centre training-associate programme in Revit Architecture, a credential increasingly requested by design firms and contractors adopting BIM standards in Ghana.
