MS Office Automation

Build workplace-ready proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint — the core productivity suite every office role in Ghana expects you to know.

Overview

Microsoft Office remains the productivity backbone of offices across Ghana — from banks and NGOs to government agencies and small businesses. The MS Office Automation course at DIT delivers practical, hands-on training in the three applications every employer expects staff to use confidently: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Rather than a theoretical overview, this course is built around the real documents, spreadsheets, and presentations that professionals produce daily — letters, reports, budgets, schedules, and client-facing presentations.

Who It’s For

This course is designed for:

  • School leavers and fresh graduates preparing to enter the workforce
  • Administrative and support staff who need to strengthen core office skills
  • Small business owners who manage their own paperwork, invoicing, and reporting
  • Anyone returning to work after a break and needing a refresher on modern Office tools

No prior software experience is required. A preliminary understanding of basic computer operation is helpful but not mandatory — this is a beginner-friendly, career-oriented course.

Curriculum Outline

Module 1 — Microsoft Word Creating and managing documents; formatting text, paragraphs, and sections; creating tables and lists; applying references; inserting and formatting objects.

Module 2 — Microsoft Excel Creating workbooks and worksheets; working with cells and ranges; building tables; applying formulas and functions; creating charts and objects.

Module 3 — Microsoft PowerPoint Creating and managing presentations; inserting and formatting shapes and slideshows; creating slide content; applying transitions and animations; managing multiple presentations.

Module 4 — Integrated Office Workflow Combining Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in real workplace scenarios — reports with embedded charts, mail merge basics, and presentation-ready data summaries.

Capstone Exercise Participants complete a mini office project: a formatted report, a working budget spreadsheet, and a presentation deck, demonstrating end-to-end competence across the suite.

Outcomes

Graduates leave with the practical ability to electronically build, organize, adjust, and communicate workplace information — the fundamental digital competence needed for entry-level and general office roles across nearly every sector in Ghana.

Certification

Participants who complete the course and pass the practical assessment receive a DIT Certificate of Completion in MS Office Automation, a widely recognized entry-level credential for office and administrative roles.
