Health and safety training and security management in Accra, Ghana
DIT trains Ghana's security and safety professionals from its Accra campus. The Security Management & Occupational Health and Safety course gives supervisors, facility managers, and aspiring security managers a practical foundation in threat assessment, risk reduction, security operations, and workplace safety — while the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) programme prepares experienced practitioners for the ASIS International board certification recognised worldwide.
DIT's health and safety training in Ghana is delivered inside that course: 6 weeks part-time in morning, evening or weekend classes, or 2 weeks intensive, at the Accra campus. The occupational health and safety modules cover identifying workplace hazards and assessing the risks they carry, designing facility layouts and management programmes that reduce those hazards, communicating hazard findings and safety measures to employees at every level, and an overview of Ghanaian workplace safety expectations and internationally recognised good-practice frameworks. The capstone is a security and safety risk assessment of a sample facility.
The course suits supervisors and team leads responsible for workplace safety compliance, facility and operations staff who need working knowledge of security and safety principles, people considering a career in security management, and security officers moving into supervisory roles. No prior security or safety experience is required. It is not a NEBOSH or IOSH programme, and it does not replace the site-specific inductions a workplace must run itself; learners who pass the practical assessment receive a DIT Certificate of Completion in Security Management & Occupational Health and Safety, which employers can verify online.
